Confusion in a Church

Self-sacrifice, not self-interest, vital to stewardship
By Rt Rev. Duncan M. Gray III, writes in the Jackson Clarion Ledger (here):

However, the guiding principle in the efficiency and efficacy of our culture's way of doing things is the "invisible hand" of Adam Smith's capitalism and not Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The church is notoriously fuzzy in its attempts to be faithful to the latter.”

Comment
Such confusion in one paragraph! Misuse of the metaphor of ‘the invisible hand’; associating Adam Smith with ‘capitalism’ 70 years before the word was invented after Smith had died (1790); and complete myopia in describing the mercantile states (protection and colonial imperialism) as anything to do with free trading commercial societies.
