We haven't had one about the invisible hand and the 'fiscal cliff'. So far I think the hidden hand has held us back from that cliff. It certainly didn't push us over it, not yet. But since we can't see the hand how can we be sure.
I should have added that the so-called fiscal cliff is also a metaphor, like the invisible hand is. Nevertheless, we can clearly see a reality occurring when the fiscal cliff is evoked. The same can be said for the invisible hand when it is evoked, not always. But most times a reality can be visualized when the invisible hand metaphor is mentioned.
The fiscal cliff is an entropy, a decline. In this case entropy is also a metaphor but it certainly can be imagined as real, just like the invisible hand can be in so many incidents.

Powerful metaphors enliven language. The 'fiscal cliff' is one such - but there is no 'cliff' in reality. We fall down cliffs, hence the metaphor works.
Likewise with the IH. There is no IH but the imagination gives it power figuratively. We cannot 'see' power but we can feel it.
