Sad Reports about Smith's Grave in Edinburgh

Michael Blackley writes in The Evening News (Edinburgh) about disturbing events in the Canongate Kirk cemetery in Edinburgh:

Cameras plea for cemetery after vandals attack graves
CCTV cameras could be fitted in one of Edinburgh's oldest cemeteries after the graves of some of the city's most important historical figures were vandalised.

A recent spate of late-night attacks at Canongate Kirk have seen the headstones of such luminaries as economist Adam Smith, Fettes College founder Sir William Fettes and former Edinburgh Castle governor William Lang covered in rubbish or graffiti
.”

Comment
Michael Blackley reports that associated with the vandalised graves there were syringes and bottles, suggesting the perpetrators were part of the unfortunate night life of the drug and drink community.

Those who have no respect themselves are hardly likely to have respect for the dead.
